What other leadership programmes do you offer?

We offer KHDA certified leadership academy programmes (teacher leaders, middle leaders, senior leaders, and executive leaders). We also offer courses to support UAE leadership permit, teacher competency programme, and leadership competency.

What is the application process for the Qualifying Programmes?

Once accepted, you will be inducted onto the programme

How is this qualification different from the iPGCE?

This qualification is apprenticeship style, in-situ training. This means that students spend the full duration of the course in a school placement and gradually take over the full-time teaching responsibilities.

The training route has been designed according to the tried and tested school-centred initial teacher training course known as SCITT in England.

Can I choose the school that I am placed in?

TELLAL will place all participants in partner schools.

Is this qualification KHDA approved?

Yes

What are the UAE Teacher Standards?

They are a set of descriptors linked to the expected attitudes, competencies and responsibilities of a teacher which every teacher in the UAE will be assessed against. Your teaching practice will be assessed against the standards, whereby you will progressively collate evidence to demonstrate how you meet each standard.

Am I guaranteed a job after this training?

The training will provide you with the skills and experience to teach effectively and with the pre-requisites (i.e. undergraduate degree and IELTS 6.0), you will be eligible to apply for a teaching post. We will support you in applying for a teaching post, but you are not guaranteed a position by the virtue of being on the programme.

What is the structure of the programme?

There are 3 modules as follows:

  • Principles in Learning and Teaching Theory
  • Evidence Based Practice
  • Teaching Practice, Placement, and Portfolio

Plus, online pre-induction module focusing on ‘Understanding Self as Learner’.

Are the qualifying programmes available online, face to face, or blended?

All our qualifying programmes are blended.

I am currently working as a learning support assistant, am I able to continue working while taking the programme?

No, if your contract and responsibilities include one to one support but yes, if this is not the case and you have your school’s approval. TELLAL will have the definitive decision on such a scenario.

I am currently working as a teaching assistant, am I able to continue working while taking the programme?

Yes, you can continue in your role, with your school’s approval, while on the programme.

Do you offer training courses in other emirates? (Sharjah, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, etc.)

We offer school training placements in other emirates; however, you will still need to attend study sessions at TELLAL Institute in Dubai once a week.

What are the engagement hours for the Teaching Qualification course? Can I work elsewhere and attend the programme?

The programme is full-time, 10 months and during school hours i.e. Sunday – Thursday, 7:00am – 16:00pm (subject to change depending on school).

If you are currently employed as a TA or co-teacher in an unqualified role it is possible to continue whilst training, if, the school enters a partnership with TELLAL and agrees to support you throughout the programme.

There are also 3 weekend compulsory learning summits during the 10-month programmes.

First ensure that your application is complete, and you have completed all mandatory fields and submitted all your required documents

Do I need a certificate evidencing English Proficiency to apply for a qualifying programme?

Yes. An English Proficiency exam with an overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0 including a minimum of 6.0 in reading, 6.0 in writing, 5.5 in speaking, 5.5 in listening. You are required to complete any necessary tests prior to beginning the programme.

English Proficiency exams are not required for passport holders from the following countries:

Do you offer an apprenticeship?

Yes, we offer an apprenticeship. Our qualifying programme is an Apprenticeship in Teaching Practice (ATP).

Can I earn as I learn on the teacher training qualifying programmes?

Yes, if you have secured a salaried teaching position and your school has agreed to support you through the programme, TELLAL can make the arrangements with your school provided specific terms and conditions are met. The decision is at the discretion of TELLAL.

I don’t have any teaching experience; can I still enroll one of your pre-service teacher training programmes?

One month’s experience in a school setting, in any capacity is a minimum entry requirement.

How do I get teaching experience in a school?

This experience can be in the form of volunteer work, parent council, teaching substitution, examination invigilator, sports coach, learning support, administration staff, library assistant etc.

I do have teaching experience, what programmes are available for me?

TELLAL offers pre-service (i.e. unqualified and new to the teaching profession) and in-service (experienced qualified or unqualified teachers) qualification routes.

For pre-service teachers, we offer the following routes:

  • TP – Level 6
  • TP – Level 7
  • Arabic
  • EY’s

For in-service teachers, we offer the following route if international qualification is being sought:

  • iPgCPP – Level 6
How many years does my Degree programme need to be?

The minimum requirement is a 3-year degree equivalent to a Bachelors Ordinary Degree (UK).

*lower 2nd class honours may be accepted in exceptional circumstances

On application, the equivalency of your documents and transcript will be checked, therefore, it is imperative to have a copy of your original degree certificate and transcript available on application.

Who recognises the International Qualifying programmes? Which emirate and which country outside the UAE?

Eligibility is dependent on specific country/emirate licensing. These programmes are internationally benchmarked and graduates holding these qualifications still need to meet the licensing regulated requirements.

Do you offer payment installment plans for the qualifying programmes?

Yes. Once accepted onto the programme, the options are presented to you on the obligatory terms and conditions.
