Tellal Celebrates the UAE’s Best Teachers
Tellal was proud to be a part of the inaugural Education Journal Middle East Awards recognising the best of the UAE’s teaching talent.
At a glitzy event at the Grosvenor House Dubai on 3 May 2017, Tellal joined 250 of the UAE’s educational leading lights in celebration of the country’s outstanding teaching talent. Out of 200 nominees, 15 teachers and school teams were crowned the best in their respective fields at the first ever Education Journal Middle East Awards.
Tellal’s Manager of Training, Raquel Nahaus, had the privilege of presenting the Teaching Assistant of the Year Award to the winner Melanie Newbigging from The Kindergarten Starters. Newbigging had impressed the judges with her artistic flair in creating teaching resources and her hands-on, play-based approach to teaching support.
Speaking on behalf of Tellal as a co-sponsor of the EJME Awards, Senior Vice President Linda Rush said, “Through its initiatives on supporting an apprenticeship model of teacher training, [Tellal] recognises and values the significant contribution made by teaching assistants in our schools. A key part of Tellal’s work is to promote, support and develop a school workforce that reflects the diversity and cosmopolitan nature of the UAE. In many ways those who work as teaching assistants do themselves reflect this positive aspect of the society here in Dubai.”
