The Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad 2018
The Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad 2018: Have you got what it takes?
Offering a unique opportunity to celebrate the calibre of our most talented Indian teachers and foster individual professional development, The Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) has just announced the 2018 Teaching Professional’s Olympiad (TPO). Now in its third year, this national competition for teachers in India and the UAE has become a must-attend fixture on the calendar of educators and an exciting opportunity to showcase your talents, earn insightful feedback for self-improvement and gain extensive public recognition for the performance and the hard work and skills it takes to be a teacher today.
Supported by a range of global organisations including TELLAL, the Oxford University Press and the Varkey Foundation, the TPO has grown into a community of more than 35,000 teachers from over 5,000 schools across 2,000 locations. Founded by CENTA, who aim to foster the personal development of teachers and create exciting career opportunities, the TPO is also supported by several government entities in India and media giant, The Hindu. These partnerships and expansive reach offer unrivalled publicity for the competition and its participants that will inspire other teachers and educators, for generations to come.
How does it work?
The competition will be held on Saturday, December 8that over 46 cities in India and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. Pre-registration is essential and can be done at www.centa.org. There will be three time slots available, starting at 7.30am, 10.30am and 1.30pm respectively, for the two hour, multiple choice test. In line with educational best practice, the test will be highly practice orientated and avoid negative marking. It will also have 14 subject tracks in Primary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels. Everyone who takes part will leave with an extensive report on their performance, offering a completely-confidential, personalised evaluation on competencies that can be used for self-development and skills growth.
What can you win?
As if the honour of taking part wasn’t enough, there are so many prizes on offer for those taking part. Winners can take advantage of scholarships to TELLAL professional development programmes and the Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) in Dubai. They could take part in the Oxford English Language Teacher’s Academy Masterclass at Oxford University in the UK. There will be the opportunity to co-author a book published by the Central Square Foundation and profiling in The Hindu group of publications. Oh, and if all that wasn’t enough, there will over 100 cash prizes on offer, including one of AED 5,000!
