Trainer of the Month: Angela Clark
The title of “Trainer of the Month” for November goes to Angela Clark for a fantastic workshop on Learning through Play.
Each month we celebrate a member of our teaching community who has delivered an outstanding training experience for teacher trainees or professional peers, based on professionalism, workshop evaluations and feedback.
Angela Clark is a Music and EAL teacher at GEMS World Academy, Dubai. In her PLD workshop, “Learning through Play: ELL Games and Activities”, she brought combined her talents and expertise to give participants a new repertoire of play-based, music and movement activities to use in their classes with primary-aged English Language Learners. Participants we encouraged to participate in an analysis of the activities presented, and learnt skills to build their own activities using the four stages of the “Orff-Schulwerk” approach to music education: imitate, explore, improvise and create. Participants were also encouraged to share and develop their own successful, play-based classroom activities.
Angela’s enthusiasm, energy and inclusiveness were highly praised by the attending teachers who commented:
“Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication into making this PD session so enjoyable and useful!”
“Excellent instructor, very enthusiastic and kind. Loved all the wonderful ideas presented today. Thank you!”
“Ideas for traditional tales and fables were excellent and I will be using in my practice.”
“I enjoyed enacting a story “frozen picture” concept which was a very interesting and believe it would work well with children too.”
Well done, Angela, for delivering a great professional learning session, and congratulations on being November’s Trainer of the Month!
