Learning in the early years in school is predominantly social. Children experience themselves in a group of peers in a new way, with new possibilities but also new limitations. During this learning process children will be confronted with feelings and opposing interests which can lead to conflicts. Conflicts are not only normal but also pose an opportunity to learn to deal with challenging situations. An early exposure to communication techniques and supporting children in developing awareness of their own feelings, offers the opportunity to develop early conflict resolution skills. Participants will learn how to mediate during conflicts and how to strengthen skills that allow children to deal with conflicts more independently.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Understand mediation techniques and how to empower children with conflict resolution techniques

2.     Know a bank of games and activities to develop children’s awareness of their own feelings and develop communication skills for conflict resolution
