“Gently, slowly, softly…” These are words consistently used by early years practitioners but are we feminising our boys by denying them an outlet for masculine tendencies such as rough and tumble play? This session explores how we can make our early years learning environments more boy-friendly spaces, particularly important in expatriate families where fathers and other male role models are often absent for prolonged periods of time. From planning active learning opportunities to responding sensitively to boys by developing an awareness of gender stereotypical responses, participants will deepen their awareness of a well-balanced curriculum that will effectively support and challenge young boys.

2.     Know how to plan for active learning opportunities that incorporate rough and tumble play and superhero play
