How often have you heard colleagues say, “It’s not the kids with the settling in issue, it’s the parents!” As early years practitioners, partnership working with parents is crucial to the development of strong, positive relationships with our youngest children. This session explores positive communication with parents and strategies and techniques to support parents with transitions whether this be new joiners to the school or dealing with a change in family circumstances.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Understand attachment theory and the importance of positive adult interactions in the early days of settling in and transitions

2.     Know techniques and strategies for promoting partnership working with parents and parental engagement
