The UAE is a multi-cultural nation and our students are exposed to cultures from all over the world. As international educators we are tasked with nurturing global citizens, but how do we do this? This session will include a variety of ways to help promote international-mindedness in young learners. We will explore what it means to be balanced, caring, a communicator, an inquirer, knowledgeable, open-minded, principled, reflective, a risk-taker, and a thinker. We will learn what this looks like in the early years classroom and how to encourage these attributes with positive reinforcement and specific reward systems for your classroom. We will also be looking at specific literature to help promote international-mindedness in young learners.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Understand what it means for young students to be international-minded

2.     Know games, activities, routines and resources to encourage international-mindedness in the early years classroom
